Brief Weather Discussion
The weather will be unsettled for the rest of the week, as several disturbances pass through the area. There will be intervals of sun and clouds today during the day, but clouds will increase this evening and a few showeres will be possible tonight. Things will dry out Thursday morning, but another weak disturbance will bring another chance of showers in the evening. A stronger system will pass on Friday, but once again just a few showers are possible, as most steady precipitation likely stays north.
Storm Alert
Rain mixing/changing to snow. Early sunshine will fade behind increasing clouds this afternoon, and light rain will arrive this evening. Highs today will rise into the mid to upper 40's, so there will likely be an extended period where precipitation falls as rain tonight, although some wet snow may mix in. Precipitation will mix with and then briefly change over to mostly snow towards morning, with coatings to less than 1 inch of accumulation possible through the afternoon. More light rain/snow showers will develop on Saturday as a strong disturbance clears the area, with the best chance for snow accumulation ...
Snow/Ice Threat
Today will be mostly sunny and dry in the wake of yesterday's system, but clouds will gradually increase on Friday as the next weather system approaches. A coastal storm will be possible as a strong disturbance sweeps through overnight Friday into Saturday. The majority of this system's snow will likely fall in northern areas and in southern New England, but the mid-atlantic could see a glancing blow. Accumulations at this time are still up in the air due to the highly dymanic nature of coastal systems, but an inch of accumulation does look possible overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
Storm Alert
Rain/Snow possible this afternoon into early tonight. The area will be affected by a quick moving system later today. Light rain or a rain/snow mix may work in as early as 11am-2pm. Daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 30's should prevent pavement accumulation and may keep precipitation as mainly rain. After 4-5pm, snow may mix in more with a steady period of wet snow possible before ending 7-10pm. Accumlations will range between .5-1.5 inches for much of the region with pavement remaining wet. Refreeze will be a concern overnight. Thursday and Friday look like nice, seasonably mild days. A ...
Snow/Ice Threat Wed. through Wed. Evening
Another very nice day is in store with high pressure situated across the region. Clouds will begin to increase and thicken tonight as our system approaches. Precipitation will move in around 11am-2pm on Wednesday with temperatures expected near 34-37 degrees. This will allow precipitation to begin as snow although with light precipitation expected and temperatures warming, snow should change over to rain by midday. Towards evening, rain may change back to snow before ending. In all, only slushy coatings on colder surfaces are expected. Refreeze will be a concern overnight as temperatures fall to near 32.
Brief Weather Discussion
High pressure will provide a mostly sunny and mild day today. Two disturbances will pass this week; the weaker of the two comes tomorrow morning and looks to be dry with just a brief period of increased cloud cover. A better developed cold front on Wednesday will have more moisture associated with it and although precipitation will begin as rain, some wet snow and sleet could mix in through the morning/afternoon. As temps cool aloft, precipitation may briefly change over entirely to snow before ending later in the day. With above freezing surface temperatures, accumulation is questionable, but it will be ...
Brief Weather Discussion
A beautiful day is in store today with plenty of sunshine and temperatures around 50. The next system we are watching comes Saturday night into Sunday. Right now rain comes in Saturday evening and then for northern and western regions there is a threat for flurries to mix in. Since highs on Saturday are near 50, accumulations are unlikely. Temperatures now appear to stay in the mid 30's Saturday night but we cannot rule out temperatures dropping closer the the freezing mark and allowing flurries to mix in. We will monitor this situation and issue any updates that are needed.
Brief Weather Discussion
Showers moving out of Virginia makes for a wet Thursday start. Expect a break in showers between 7-10am before a second patch from West Virginia comes in ending by noon. The clouds break up for the sun in the afternoon and the remainder of the day will be mild but not as warm as yesterday. Tonight will feel more like winter with lows getting into the 30's instead of staying in the upper 40's as they have the past few nights. Next threat for rain comes overnight Saturday into Sunday and again Sunday into Monday.
Brief Weather Discussion
Light showers moving through the mid atlantic should move out of Maryland by 9am this morning. Some clouds in the morning break way for sun in the afternoon eventually becoming mostly sunny. Warmth continues with highs today a few degrees warmer than yesterday. Rain returns overnight moving into the southern regions first and traveling eastward ending tomorrow morning. Expect higher accumulations with tomorrow's rain threat than today's.
Brief Weather Discussion
Southerly flow continues for the next two days bringing in warm air and allowing temperatures to be as much as 15-20 degrees above normal. Wednesday and Thursday have rain shower threats with rain accumulations larger on Thursday. After a front moves through Thursday, Friday and Saturday cool off to near of just above normal temperatures. We are watching a system for Sunday night into Monday but right now it looks warm.
